I love this little snow thrower!!!! Free stuff is great but free stuff that looks like its brand new and works like it just got pulled from the box is even better!!!! This is my garbage picked Toro Powerlite 325 I'm using it in about 8~9 inches of snow. One thing I really need to stress with small 2 and 4 cycle engines is the use of 89 octane and higher fuel. If you use 87 or lower I can guarantee you that the engine will be ruined from overheating caused by engine knock and high combustion temps. I see this all the time with chainsaws, cut saws, line trimmers, and leaf blowers. Don't go cheap on gas. The reason for this is higher amounts of ethanol is used in lower octane fuel. Ethanol increases combustion temps and also burns very erratic.

Here is walk-through of a 1962 Homko snow blower. It is a one stage powered by a 3 HP Briggs & Stratton engine. Some specifics: Homko Snow Blower, Model 351-01 manufactured by Western Tool & Stamping Co. of Des Moines, Iowa. The Engine is a horizontal shaft Briggs and Stratton Model 81252 Type 948546 Code 6206122. Long story short, it's a June 12th, 1962 motor with a 6 to 1 gearbox, as seen in the video. ***Note...I mention in the video about it's lack of throwing power. After speaking with a few people, including an owner of a re-branded Craftsman unit, these did actually snow quite well, even for their small size. *** This is part of the Cole Land Transportation Museum collection.

Loftness Snowblower

Snowblower by loftness. This is one of their heavier duty models. It's the 1082H with 108 inches of cutting width (9ft wide 4ft tall mouth). This blower was special ordered from the factory to run on hydraulic pressure instead of a three point hitch on a farm tractor. It takes 50 gpm and 3000 psi to run this beast. I believe it weighs around 3300 pounds with the quick attach and hydraulic motor modifications. This video shows it running on hydraulic power to prove that it is operational. There were no leaks or problems. The hydraulic motor is made in Italy and is solid. The blower chute has been removed and is sitting on the snow blower in this video for shipping and storage purposes.

*** PLEASE READ*** I made my own "Snow-blade just to see if I could, if it would work, and just for the fun of it. Since I never had a lawn tractor when I lived in Southern California, I like to ride it, you know! Come on...I'll be 63 in a few weeks. Humor me. Ha ha. We get lots of snow here, and running the snow blower is a lot of work, but necessary in really deep spots. But for much of the driveway and sidewalks I can now run my Sears Craftsman YS 4500 lawn tractor. It gets a good cleaning and I get fresh air while having some fun. I could make it out all of metal, but the blade really needed the heavy wood to be an effective enough weight. It was a fun project, which took me 2 days to complete from idea, start to finish. My craftsman tractor snow blowing with electric lift & led light flashers

my 2010 Craftsman YT 4500 54'' Kohler 26 hp Gas Powered Riding Lawn Tractor with led flashing lights, snow blower, hitch with ball and tire chains. I modified the snow cab adding clear vinyl to the front and rear. The black fabric cover three sides and i would have to lean forward to see the snow blower. The back vinyl has velcro to keep it shut. I add led lights and 12 v outlet for power source to the rear. The led have a no flash and flash option. and the best feature is the power lift I added. It is just as fast as the manual lift arm and cost $175. This setup is $10000.00 cheaper than the 4 wheel drive kubota with a 4 foot bucket I owned in the past.
